General Bio

With the grace of my Lord, I am a technology management and leadership practitioner, trainer, consultant, author and volunteer at various public service organizations. Currently employed by IBM, as systems engineer and enterprise/business architect in IBM’s Global Business Service unit, responsible for ensuring the application of systems engineering methodologies and concepts to complex software systems projects. I have managed a portfolio of dozens of projects valued around $250 million over the past decade.

At IBM I have devised several unique approaches and tools for systems engineering and technical management, such as capturing lessons learned, systems-based facilitation and systems sustainability. Prior to joining IBM I devised approaches to assess the value proposition of systems. I founded and chair the IBM Systems Value Proposition and the IBM Systems Sustainability and Viability Communities of Interest, and have been a speaker at several IBM technical forums on topics of requirements prioritization, systems engineering value proposition and systems sustainability.

I am an INCOSE Certified System Engineering Professional, a certified systems engineer from the University of Maryland, an ASQ Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, a PMI certified PMP project manager, certified IBM IT Architect and Open Group certified Master IT Architect and hold a Masters degree in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I received my Bachelor’s and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ain Shams University and Cairo University respectively.

Most of my career in the telecom and networking industry in various roles in the areas of new product development, service provisioning, and system design, implementation and delivery. I also have broad experience in IT operations and governance in higher education and non-profit sectors. My current interests are enterprise architecture, business transformation, systems value proposition and sustainability. I also teach project management, systems engineering and leadership classes and workshops at Prince George’s Community College, Intercontinental Networks and Innovative Leadership Institute of America respectively. In my spare time I enjoy facilitating conflict resolution sessions for parents/teens, business partners, volunteering at area correctional institutions and youth centers and spending time with the family.

Interested in working with me? I am hiring recent college graduates and college students, occasionally have internships for high school students as well. All you need to have is a sharp mind, high motivation and strong commitment to learn and solve problems in different domains.
